Art Together

As part of the BNL Media Art Festival, artist Leonardo Zaccone is holding a media art lab for 15 year three students at the Istituto comprensivo Largo Cocconi.

Inspired by Wisława Szymborska’s poem entitled “Still Life with Balloon” and “Tango” a video by Zbigniew Rybczynski, the objective of the project is to develop a collective installation centred on the expression of individuals.

Each object chosen by the students is animated in the video and placed in coordination with other students’ timing and movements to create a digital video in which objects move in a loop.

Once the video has been produced, the work will be presented as an installation with a television showing the video, the objects placed around the TV and a balloon tied to the television.

The challenge for Leonardo and his students is not only to create a modern still life, but also to help the young boys and girls express themselves naturally without stepping over one another. In fact, this is a very important objective that has been emphasized by Prof Moschetta as it helps students to improve their group relations and encourages them to study through alternative didactics.

The students’ reactions, as Gaia and Mirea explain, were positive from the beginning. They were enthusiastic about working on an art project, presenting themselves and working in a group.
